3 TIPS FOR CREATING A SPA DAY (OR NIGHT) AT HOME

3 TIPS FOR CREATING A SPA DAY (OR NIGHT) AT HOME

Who doesn’t love going to a spa? It’s relaxing, rejuvenating and helps us recharge from our typically busy and responsibility-filled lives. Everything about a spa visit is designed to help you unplug from the real world – time spent enjoying pampering treatments such as a massage or a facial, and even long hot soaks or other therapeutic sessions to help you decompress. Unfortunately, a spa isn’t always the most affordable luxury. For many of us, we only get to go a handful of times in our lives, even though most of us could really use it on the regular! While the price it costs to go to the spa isn’t going to change any time soon, the good news is that you can recreate your own version of a spa day at home. With a little bit of time set aside and a few essential spa products of your own, you can be well on your way to some much needed, low cost relaxation.

Do a mask: Facial masks are one of the best skincare products to have on hand for times when you need an excuse to relax and recharge. You can even do a mask while you multitask around your house, but if you can, we recommend trying to really give yourself a break- even if it’s only twenty minutes. If you have sensitive skin try a calming mask with ingredients like cucumber and aloe. If you want to get a little exfoliating action going then an enzyme mask is right up your alley.

In our July Salty Bath box, we are introducing an incredible Blueberry Cranberry Oxygen Mask. This berry-filled formulation will hyper-oxygenate your skin cells with its antioxidant load of berries. Blueberries bring to your skin an arsenal of anti-aging benefits. Cranberries add to the blend with active bioflavonoids as well as much needed vitamins. A gentle exfoliation utilizing fresh fruit pulp, and a deeper cell renewal and collagen production with Glycolic and Alpha Lipoic acids, make this an amazing restorative treatment that you can do right at home.

Take a bath: Baths are so relaxing, and often referred to as “nature’s medicine. Newsweek magazine even featured an article with the latest research on “why taking a hot bath may be as good for your health as exercise.” Our custom-formulated, small-batch bath soaks cannot be found anywhere else and are loaded with magnesium + nutrient-rich ingredients that help the muscles to relax, balances your pH level, reduces stress, and much more. Our salts are sourced straight from the Dead Sea where we blend them with magnesium sulfate and therapeutic grade essential oils for the ultimate soak experience. Put on a face mask, play some of your favorite tunes, add in our bath salts, dim the lights, light the candle (also part of your self-care box we send you), arrange crystals (we provide these too!) or flowers around the tub for more powerful energy and soak in your very own, custom made relaxation space. Having a warm cup of herbal tea or a glass of vino also adds a touch of indulgence that makes the experience even more spa-like.

DIY this easy foot treatment: Everyone who’s tried a foot soak knows just how relaxing it can be after a long day spent on your feet. Make a relaxing foot bath by diluting 1 cup of apple cider vinegar, 1 cup of sea salt, and 1 cup of Epsom salt in water as hot as you can tolerate. You can also add essential oils such as lavender to level up its soothing power, and peppermint oil to make it super refreshing. Apple cider vinegar is a favorite holistic remedy for all kinds of issues and has many benefits to heal and nourish your skin and body.

I like to time my spa-at-home experience to night.  That way, my commitments for the day are done, and I can wash away all the energy I collected, slip into something cozy afterwards, and really unwind.  Or even better, drift off to a great night’s sleep!

Not Your Typical Bubble Bath

Not Your Typical Bubble Bath

Not all bath products are created equal. In fact, your bubble bath may be causing more harm than good.  That’s because many products on the shelf today contain artificial ingredients that can have side effects, and contribute to a “chemical build-up” in your system.  For example, several personal care products can contain something called “phthalates.”  Not only can you not pronounce it — these phthalates have adverse, hormone-disrupting effects on the body. That Holiday Cookie or Blueberry Bubble Bath may smell great (if you want to smell like a holiday cookie or a fruit tart) but chances are it’s toxic. Yuck, no thanks!

Salty Bath was created to provide the ultimate, all-natural bath experience – one where you can enjoy a relaxing soak that is also packed with healthy benefits.  Think about it — our bodies take in a lot of toxins regardless of how healthy we are. That’s because your skin is your body’s largest organ and it plays a critical role in detoxification. Just how much? It’s responsible for eliminating 25% of your body’s toxins. Your skin also absorbs up to 60% of whatever is applied to it – which is why it is super important to use natural, non-toxic skincare products.

That’s where we come in. We take all the guesswork out of finding the purest products that are good for you, from the outside in. Each soak pulls out the toxins from your body, and replenishes it with good minerals that naturally aid in detoxification, boost your immune system, and support your overall health.

We make a variety of small-batch bath soaks that contain Dead Sea salts, sourced straight from the Dead Sea in Israel, and magnesium sulfate. Just these 2 ingredients alone pack over 80 essential minerals that flush out toxins and also promote relaxation, improve oxygen use, balance pH levels, help muscles and nerves function properly, and improve the absorption of nutrients. But we don’t stop there, we then infuse these mineral salts with therapeutic grade essential oils which add even more health benefits to your bath experience.  These include relieving anxiety, promoting better sleep, aiding in digestion, boosting mental clarity, uplifting mood, or calming you down.

We are known for providing simple, pure luxury: no perfumes, no dyes, or harsh chemicals – only all-natural and organic ingredients without any nasty side effects. Plus, everything smells awesome because of the high-integrity essential oils we use. And, everything dissolves beautifully in the tub without leaving a residue.

Some people tend to avoid any “me-time” or down time because it doesn’t feel “productive.” If that sounds familiar to you, then you can feel extremely good about the fact that by taking a detox bath like this, it’s not only productive but critical to your body in order to achieve optimal health. The irony is, by relaxing and detoxing body and mind, your spirit is also rejuvenated, and you are far more productive living this way, then operating on depleted reserves of energy.

All you need is a 20-minute Salty Bath soak to experience all the healthy benefits from the salts and the oils. As always, do not detox in this way if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, and always consult your healthcare provider if you have any medical conditions.  Finally, it is important to hydrate after any kind of detox soak, so drink plenty of water!

So, rather than figuring out how and when to book that next spa visit, perhaps you would do better having a luxury spa experience right in the convenience of your own home? If you are curious about how Salty Bath works, check out www.SaltyBath.com to learn more.
